The “Green Award” competition winners were announced on the eve of the World Day of International Competition by Center for Environmental Information and Education. World Environment Protection Day is celebrated every year on June 5.
The winners of the “Green Award” competition of the Center for Environmental Information and Education also included Teachers and educators from all over Georgia. About 170 guests including the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia attended the award ceremony.
It is to be mentioned that Nino Barbakadze-Kakhniashvili, a teacher of N126 Kindergarten in Tbilisi City won the “Green Award under the Pre-School Environmental Education 2024”. Otar Shamugia speaking on the occasion said “Education for our youth both in the direction of environmental and agricultural education is our main strategy. I would like to congratulate everyone and wish a healthy life. The priority of our government and ministry is to take care of and protect the environment. In this direction we are working on the tasks that we have set within the framework of the association agreement and under the international obligations.
The “Green Award” competition has been awarded by the Center for Environmental Information and Education since 2018. The purpose of the competition is to encourage teachers and educators who care for children’s environmental and agrarian education and actively use the manuals “Pre-school Environmental Education” and “Environmental and Agrarian Education at School” in the educational process.
On the sidelines of the award ceremony the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia presented certificates to the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Abkhazia employees for their contribution to environmental protection.
It is to be added that the main supporters of the “Green Award” competition are the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency, the National Center for Professional Development of Teachers, and Tbilisi Zoo.
