Tbilisi: The Chairman of the Women’s Information Center, Elene Rusetskaya, condemned the recent incident of Femicide. The woman was killed, and the news shocked the whole nation.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the NGO (Non-Government Organisation ) has been working for the welfare of people for many years. They also launched many campaigns against femicide and initiated an awareness campaign to prevent this social event from being reported at a large level across the world.
The NGO was also a part of a sixteen-day campaign that was launched against the gender based violence. This Sixteen-day campaign was an international campaign to prevent the menace of Femicide.
This campaign are held every year in which many countries participate. Many international organisations, NGOs, and social and women organisations are aware of the general public being part of the sixteen-day campaign.
The Chairman of the Women’s Information Center also posted a video on social media with the message that “Another woman was killed in Tbilisi. Chairman of the Women’s Information Center, Elene Rusetskaya, talks about femicide in Euronews”.
For information, the Prosecutor’s Office has not yet released its 2023 femicide statistics; however, according to the Public Defender’s data, the number of femicide cases in the first half of 2023 significantly exceeded the number of attempted murders of women.
In her social media message, she also said that this is totally unacceptable that women are still being killed due to gender bias. As per the Chairman more and more awareness campaigns are needed to be organised so that this kind of crime can be reduced as soon as possible.
She also demanded that government agencies and law enforcement agencies also need to enhance the vigilance for the presentation of such crimes.
On the other hand many social media users also said that the accused of this brutal act should be given maximum punishment to set an example for all the anti-social elements.
