As per the Data released by the Women’s Information Centre, the number of Domestic violence cases has seen a rapid Rise. Women Information Centre is a non-governmental organisation working for the welfare of women across the country.
It is worth mentioning that November 25th is known as the day of fighting violence against women. Domestic violence Against women deprives them of their equal right to participation in society.
On the other hand, According to Ministry Data, six thousand and ten restraining orders have been passed against the cases of Domestic Violence. Data also revealed that in the first six months of the current year, almost six hundred and twenty-two women had become victims of Domestic violence as per NGO data.
Moreover, as per the information of the NGO, Women International Centre, from January 2023 to June 2023, 622 reported incidents of violence against them. Interestingly, out of these six hundred ninety-two cases, sixty-two were cases of physical violence; however, in the case of another three hundred thirty-five cases, women reported psychological violence incidents.
Similarly the cases of sexual violence, as well as nine cases of coercion, were also revealed by the Data of the NGO Women Information Centre.NGO also stated that so far, three hundred fifty-eight orders of restaurants have been passed to stop domestic violence by organisation.
It is to specifically mention that Domestic violence has become a major issue of Concern. The incidence of domestic violence is also increasing in Georgia.Many women’s organisation has come into existence to raise the voice of women on different platforms.
The Ministry of Women’s Welfare has also launched many programs to deter the incident of Domestic Violence in the country.At the same time, many stringent laws have also have been introduced to punish the accused of domestic violence as well.
The representative of the Non-governmental organisation “Women Information Centre” said that the organisation had helped many women with legal, financial, and psychological assistance to the victims of domestic violence.
The members of the NGO also encourage the women to raise their voices against domestic violence to eradicate this social evil from Georgia.
NGO also cited the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which reflected that in the last nine months, from January to November 2023 total number of cases of Domestic violence was 5920.Out of the 5920 cases of domestic violence, almost 4977 victims are women.
