To promote the culture of sports in the country, the administration of the Chkhorotsu organized the athletics run on the International Olympic Day on 23 June. June 23 is  celebrated as the International Olympic Day across the globe.
The Municipality organized this run with the cooperation of the Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti Regional Olympic Committee and the   to make the children aware of the importance of sports. Their race witnessed the participation of several students sprortsperson especially the athletes of the complex sports school who were actively involved in the event.
It is to be specifically mentioned that before the beginning of this mass race  the participants posed for photos with the flag of the International Olympic Association  which is white with a five-coloured ring imprinted on it.  The participants of the event were happy to be part of this event and thanked the administration of this important event that can play a crucial role in highlighting the importance of sports, especially among the young people of the municipality.
The event’s chief guest explained the history of the day and the importance of physical and mental fitness. They highlighted the role of sports activities in the better future of any country  as only healthy people can contribute to the betterment of the country’s economy. The International Day celebration serves as a reminder for the whole world about the positive impact of sports on improving diplomatic relations among countries.
The participating athlete passes through many parts of the cities and villages. People stand alongside the roads to encourage the sportsperson as well. They also appreciated the participants for showing huge excitement about being part of the event. It is to be noted that the main purpose behind the commemoration of this day is to underscore sporting activities and mental well-being.
The municipal heads awarded the winners gifts and medals. Moreover, the Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti Regional Olympic Committee gave the participants T-shirts with the appropriate emblem.
