COVID-19: Georgia reports 15,315 new cases, weekly positivity rate stands at 31.5%

Georgian health authorities have stated that the country has reported 15,315 new cases of Coronavirus with 10,894 recoveries and 55 fatalities in the last 24 hours. According to the data, the weekly positivity rate of Coronavirus for the past 24 hours in Georgia stands at 31.5%.

Georgian health authorities have stated that the country has reported 15,315 new cases of Coronavirus with 10,894 recoveries and 55 fatalities in the last 24 hours. According to the data, the weekly positivity rate of Coronavirus for the past 24 hours in Georgia stands at 31.5%.

Overall, there are still 180,385 active cases of Covid-19 throughout the country.

As per the figures, a total of 50,058 tests were conducted all around the country in the past 24 hours. Among 50,058 tests, 31,794 were rapid antigen tests, while the remaining 18,264 were PCR tests.

Moreover, since February 26, 2020, Georgia has registered an overall of 1,496,156 cases of Coronavirus. A total of 1,300,062 of 1,496,156 patients have recovered, while 15,683 have died from the virus.

The new 15,315 cases of COVID-19 were reported in various parts of the country. Tbilisi – 7,055 cases, Adjara – 960, Imereti – 2,233, Kvemo Kartli – 907, Shida Kartli – 834, Guria – 470, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 1,131, Kakheti – 1,118 , Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 286, Samtskhe-Javakheti – 235, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 86.

According to the reports, 5,975 people infected with Coronavirus are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today, while 173,150 individuals are undergoing treatment at home by isolating themselves and contacting their family doctors.

Besides this, 1,309 individuals infected with Coronavirus are still in a severe condition, out of which 293 patients are on artificial ventilation.

The percentage of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Georgia is relatively low compared to other countries. Until now, around 33.3% of the population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19, which accounts for 12.3L people and around 28.6L doses of vaccine have been administered.

In addition, 1,344,494 people in Georgia have been jabbed with at least one dose of any vaccine against Covid-19 so far, while 1,233,566 have been fully vaccinated, which makes up 43% of the country’s adult population.

On Tuesday, the Government has also announced that they have given permission to re-open nightclubs from March 5-6 onwards with the maximum capacity of 60%.
