Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 578 new cases, 3 deaths

The Health Ministry said that the country has reported 578 new cases of COVID-19, with 389 recoveries and 3 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 2.61 per cent.

Georgia: The Health Ministry said that the country has reported 578 new cases of COVID-19, with 389 recoveries and 3 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 2.61 per cent.

There are currently 4,189 active cases of Coronavirus all over the country.

Moreover, as per the figures given by the Georgian health department, a total of 24,540 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 22,012 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,528 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,650,008 cases of Coronavirus. Out of which, a total of 1,629,032 patients have recovered, while 16,761 people have succumbed to it.

The new 578 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 219 cases 
  • Adjara – 12 cases 
  • Imereti – 80 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 39 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 28 cases 
  • Guria – 31 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 54 cases 
  • Kakheti – 53 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 23 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 17 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 22 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country.

Furthermore, there are currently 482 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 3,707 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 121 individuals who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

As many as 1,362,040 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,257,404 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.8 % of the country’s adult population.

A total of 243,038 individuals have received booster shots or 3rd dose of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.9% of the population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated, accounting for 12.6L individuals. The country has administered approximately 29.4L doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines.
