Georgia crime diary: 18 years imprisonment for murder accused

A court in Telavi has sentenced a murder accused to eighteen years imprisonment. The court accepted the evidence presented in this regard by the prosecutor's office of Georgia.

A court in Telavi has sentenced a murder accused to eighteen years imprisonment. The court accepted the evidence presented in this regard by the prosecutor’s office of Georgia.

The accused man was found guilty of double offences intentional murder and attempt to murder. The Concerned authorities  have taken immediate steps to bring the culprits to justice . The preliminary investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office proved very beneficial and later on resulted in the collection of solid proof against the accused to prove his guilt in a court of law.

As per the information received so far the evidence during the trial has proved that the accused was very offended after the marriage of his ex-wife to another man. To take the revenge he planned to kill both of them and began to nurse the grudge against them. The accused to execute his plan on November 28, 2023, came with arms to the house of his ex-wife and her husband in the village of Keshalo falling in the  Sagarejo district.

After he arrived at the victim’s house he fired multiple rounds at his ex-wife and her husband in the presence of the man’s mother.  As a result of the indiscriminate firing man died on the spot as a result of the injuries he received, however  the life of the  ex-wife was saved due to the availability of timely medical assistance.

The prosecutor’s office of Georgia has arrested the accused and charged him under  Article 109, subparagraphs “b” and “m” (which describe the intentional murder committed under aggravating circumstances, with a means that intentionally endangers the life or health of others and with special cruelty). Section 111 and parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 (illegal purchase, storage, carrying of firearms and ammunition) were also  imposed against the guilty.

After the conclusion of the trial and examining the evidence produced by the prosecutor’s office the Telavi District Court found the defendant   guilty of the charges presented and sentenced him to 18-year imprisonment.
