Tbilisi Crime Diary: Court sentenced one to life imprisonment

A court in Tbilisi has sentenced an accused of murder behind the bar for life. The court has accepted the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office. The murder took place at the “Lilo Mall” market.

The law enforcement agencies have investigated the matter after receiving the information. The preliminary investigation proved that the accused was acting on behalf of the person living abroad. The investigation further established accused had received money from a person abroad, who was demanding money from  the sellers of “Lilo Mall” on behalf of the criminal authorities.

The accused received an order to kill the victim because he refused to pay the extortion money. The accused bought the firearms with the money he received from abroad to execute his plans. Then on  August 3, 2023 accused caused two serious injuries to victim with his weapon with the interntion to kill him . The accused after committing the crime in Lilo Market fled the spot. On the other hand the victim died on the spot due to grave nature of the injuries.

After the preliminary investigation the employees of the Law enforcement agencies have effected the arrest of accused on the same day of the incident. Later on he was charged under Article 109, sub-paragraph “n” (intentional murder by order) and Article 236, parts 3 and 4 (illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms) of the Criminal Code.

Now as the trial of the case has been completed the trial court at the Tbilisi has found the accused guilty of predetermined murder and ordered to serve him the life imprisonment as well.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the two more person were also charged for the same offence . one was charged for  premeditated murder  whereas the other was made accused of abetment to crime. The case of the these two accused is under the consideration of the Tbilisi city court.
