Prosecutor’s office books one for Murder

The office of the Prosecutor General of Georgia has charged one person for murder. The accused had killed his wife under aggravating circumstances.

The murder took the residnts of locality of Zugdidi by storm. The Investigation in this regard was conducted by the  Ministry of Internal Affairs. The preliminary investigation revealed the fact that the accused committed the heinous crime on May 23.

 

The investigation further revealed that the accused caused multiple injuries to his wife with a hammer on various parts of her head and body. He committed the crime due to personal earlier enmity with the victim. Moreover as a result of the injuries the victim died in the hospital.

 

After the preliminary investigation was completed the law enforcement agencies began the hunt to nab the accused. On next day, May 24 the officials of the law enforcement agencies arrested the accused.   After the legal advice from the public prosecutor’s office, the accused has been charged under various provisions of the Georgian criminal code. He has been charged under Article 11 Prima 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Additionally, subsections “h,” “k,” and “m”  of the above-mentioned section have also been imposed.

 

This section describes the offense of intentional murder of   family member by his own family member. It also describes the offense committed due to gender discrimination. The above-mentioned section is regarded as the strictest provision of the Georgian code. If the accused is found to be guilty after the conclusion of the trial he can be sentenced to a minimum of 16 years and a maximum of twenty years jail term.

 

Meanwhile the prosecutor’s office applies to the court within the time limit established by the law to confine the accused as a preventive measure. The steps have been taken to stop the accused from destroying the evidence related to the offense. It is worth the mention that the news of this brutal murder came when the public defender  of the country was raising the demand to make the women’s law more stringent to reduce the crime rate against women in the country.
