Georgia: Prosecutor’s office charges one person for attempt to murder

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person for an attempt to murder. The investigation in this regard was conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The prosecution office has launched many drives to reduce the activities of the anti-social elements and stated that the office is committed to reducing the crime rate across Georgia. After receiving the initial reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs began the investigation. 

As per the inforamtion on April 1, 2024 the accused had inflicted the life threataning injuries to the victim. The accused after committing the crime tries to feld the spot but was captured by the person who was accompaning the victim. 

He chased him and inflicted life-threatening injuries on his head with a shot from a firearm. All three wounded were taken to the hospital, the health condition of two people including the victim is critical and he is being treated in intensive care.

After the areset the accused has been charged under various legal provision including artcle 19-108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempted murder) .The article provides for 10 to 15 years of punishment if found guity aftert the trial.

The prosecutor’s office has already applied to the Tbilisi City Court with a motion to detain the accused’s imprisonment as a preventive measure.The prosecutor’s office has shared this information on their social media pages. The people also appreciated the efforts of the law enforcement agencies to curb the crime country.

The office has also added that after the investigation the evidence will be produced in the   court. The office will ensure strict punishment for the accused. The official also said that they will demand exemplary punishment for the accused which will be a lesson for the others.

The civil organisation also demanded the introduction of strict legal provisions and at the same time demaded that the judicial process be expedited to bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible.
