Georgia: The Presentation of Kakhaber Melitauri’s book “Vibras” was held at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The presentation of Kakhaber Melitauri‘s book, “Vibras,” was held at the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia. The book was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture after this collection of stories won the nomination of the literary competition “Muse” prose collection in 2023. The electronic version of the collection was presented in the competition, but it has never been published as a book.
Alexander Grigalashvili, head of the Department of Access to Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports; Ketevan Dumbadze, director of the Georgian Writers’ Writers’ House; Shorena Shaverdashvili, director of Sezan Publishing; book editor Ninia Sadghobelashvili; and family members, friends, and colleagues of Kakhaber Melitauri attended the event.
Writer and film-documentary Kakhaber Melitauri’s feature-documentary stories are a striking retrospective of our recent past.
The book ‘Vibras’ provides brilliant examples of the fate of generations, confrontation, survival, and heroism in the chaos of systemic change. Its publication marks a significant contribution to the Georgian literary scene, inspiring both readers and aspiring authors.
Sezan Publishing published the book. They remind the public that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Georgia founded the Literary Award—”Best of the Year” in 2021.
Considering the competition’s success and great interest, the Ministry of Culture held it in an updated format in 2022, with ten different nominations and a new title—”Muse.” This competition has significantly impacted Georgian literature, fostering new talent and encouraging literary innovation.
The competition is announced every September. It aims to promote the development of Georgian literature, support the country’s publishing sector, encourage the creative activities of artists, popularize Georgian authors, and expose new, talented authors.
