Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 590 new cases, 10 deaths

The Georgian Health Ministry said that the country has reported 590 new cases of COVID-19, with 3,247 recoveries and 10 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 5.73 percent.

The Georgian Health Ministry said that the country has reported 590 new cases of COVID-19, with 3,247 recoveries and 10 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 5.73 percent.

There are currently 16,889 active cases of Coronavirus all over the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the Georgian health department, a total of 20,918 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 18,675 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,243 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,645,301 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,645,301 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,611,688 patients have recovered, while 16,698 people have succumbed to it.

The new 590 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 255 cases 
  • Adjara – 28 cases 
  • Imereti – 81 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 20 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 34 cases 
  • Guria – 60 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 46 cases 
  • Kakheti – 39 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 10 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 5 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 12 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country.

Furthermore, there are currently 714 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 16,175 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 189 people who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

As many as 1,358,287 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,255,357 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.5 % of the country’s adult population.

A total of 236,654 individuals have received booster shots or 3rd dose of the vaccine. 

However, starting March 28, wearing a face mask in outdoor places will no longer be required in Georgia, according to Director Giorgi Ghibradze of the Interagency Coordination Council.
