Georgia: The deadline for completing fieldwork within the framework of the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census has been postponed until the end of the year. Data collection using both methods – both door-door and self-registration methods, will continue until December 31st.
For the first time this year, the census of the population and agriculture began with the self-registration method. This new form of registration was used only at the first stage of the description (14-28 November). At the second stage, data collection continued under the principle of Kardakari, using a tablet, with a face-to-face interview method.
In the process of the description Some of the citizens living in Tbilisi, due to different circumstances, did not open the door to the representative of the Sakstat who came to his home for a description, which partly delayed and prolonged the process. The process of collecting data was also delayed by heavy rainfall and difficult meteorological conditions in several regions during the past few days. The practice showed that the method of self-registration was more comfortable for many.
Following this and at the request of citizens, based on international recommendations, Sakstat decided to reopen the portal for description self-registration from December 20, so that citizens can fill in the electronic questionnaire independently.
In this case, there will be no need to accept Saxtat interviewers at home. To do this, any citizen is required to log in to the Sakstat website https://census2024.geostat.ge/ka to complete the simple registration and fill in the electronic description questionnaire, after sending it you will receive a code as a short text message to confirm your participation in the description.
According to the recommendations of the United Nations European Economic Commission (UNECE), it is necessary that the description in Georgia be held by the end of the year 2024. The action plan of the Association Agreement with the European Union for 2024 is also taken into account.
The description is a large-scale statistical survey conducted by more than 12 thousand permanent or temporary employees of Sakstat. Among them are experienced specialists who have participated in previous descriptions. The descriptions also include students, motivated young people with exceptional skills, who are in the early stages of their professional careers. Sakstat has been working continuously for more than 5 months to select and train them.
According to the current law in the country, the data collected within the description is strictly confidential, will not be disclosed individually, and used only for statistical purposes.
The involvement of each citizen in the description is important. Preliminary results of the description will be available in June 2025.
