As per the statistical office of Georgia, the process for self-registration for national population and agriculture census will go until November 28 this year. The Census process is going on in Georgia since November 14, 2024.
The self-registration process within the framework of the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census will continue until November 28. Self-registration platform will be closed on November 28 instead of November 23 as per the latest information.
It is worth to note that the reason for extending the self-registration period is the high activity and demand from the population. Tens of thousands of citizens have already used the self-registration method; the process is actively underway, and their number is growing.
Therefore due to high public interest, the State Statistics Service has decided to extend the self-registration process within the framework of the census for another five days until November 28.
Notably the data collection began on November 14, precisely through the self-registration method. During self-registration, respondents fill out the census questionnaire independently, without Geostat interviewers, electronically using a computer/tablet/smartphone at a time and place convenient for them. The questionnaire is posted on the Geostat website.
This method is convenient for respondents who do not want to visit the interviewer’s home and/or do not have enough time for a face-to-face interview. After filling out the electronic questionnaire, respondents will receive a special code, which they must present to the Geostat interviewer who visits them, to confirm their participation in the census.
It is also to be added that after self-registration is completed, from November 29 to December 19 data will be collected by up to 12,000 Geostat interviewers, door-to-door, using tablet computers. Moreover along with the population census, an agricultural census is also being conducted.
Similarly along with social and demographic data, a special questionnaire will collect information on the agricultural activity of households, the structure of land used by households, the number of livestock and poultry, as well as other important information at the level of municipalities, territorial units and villages.
All citizens of Georgia, as well as all foreign citizens residing in the territory of Georgia (who plan to stay in Georgia for more than 12 months) and stateless persons (who plan to stay in Georgia for more than 12 months) are obliged to undergo a census.
In accordance with Articles 34 and 35 of the Law of Georgia “On Official Statistics”, individual data are confidential and are not subject to disclosure. Individual data about the respondent are stored in accordance with the procedure established by the current legislation of Georgia.
