Tbilisi: Gogita Todradze the executive director of the National Statistical Service of Georgia also known as Sakstat  held a meeting at Martvili Municipality with officials. The meeting was held under the framework of the 2024 population and agricultural census planning.
It is to be added that the Mayor of Martvil Municipality, Tornike Janashia as well as local government and self-government representatives from various administrative units attended the meeting. The meeting was aimed at informing the municipality’s representatives regarding the organizational issues of the census and how to address these issues on a priority basis as well.
At the same time during the meeting Gogita Todradze spoke in detail about the goals and objectives of the census, the date of the census, data collection methods, methodology, and the content of the questionnaire. He advised all the attendees to have an in-depth understanding of the issues related to the census of the country’s populations.
The population census in Georgia will be conducted from November 14 to December 19, 2024. The census procedure will have two stages. In the first stage which will be conducted from November 14 to 23 Â the population will be self-registered throughout the country.
This means that the citizens themselves without the help of the Saxstat staff will fill out the census questionnaires on a pre-prepared web platform. In the second stage of the census from November 29 to December 19 up to 11,000 field personnel prepared by Saxstat will conduct door-to-door interviews with residents throughout Georgia through special questionnaires.
Moreover to optimally use the resources  it is planned to conduct an agricultural census together with the population census. The agricultural census will collect data about agricultural activities.
The preliminary results of the census will be published in June 2025 and the final results will be available in June 2026. The census will obtain the latest information about the population’s number, gender-age structure, employment status and education level, health status, sources of livelihood and housing conditions.
