Georgia: An international conference will be held in connection with the 105th anniversary of the Georgian National Statistical Service (SAQSTAT) and the 25th anniversary of the production of gender statistics.
“Gender statistics – accelerating progress towards inclusive development through gender statistics) is being held in Tbilisi. The conference, which is being held on the initiative of Sakstat and the United Nations Organization of Women, will last two days.
Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Sakstat, and Belen Sans Luke, Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Women (UN Women) for Europe and Central Asia, addressed the conference participants.
According to Gogita Todradze, “To mark the anniversary date of the National Statistical Service, an international conference is being held, in which the heads of the Statistical Service of ten countries around the world participate.” He would like to congratulate all statisticians on this day and thank them for their fruitful cooperation.
Papa Seki, Head of Research and Data of the United Nations Organization of Women, said, “It is a real honor to be here today to celebrate the anniversary of Saxtat and the long partnership we have with Saxtat on gender data and statistics.” It is a pleasure that we have had very close and fruitful cooperation with Saxtat all these years. As a result of this collaboration, gender statistics are improving over the years. We have conducted a study of the use of time and see that this study has already resulted in Georgia. I am excited and looking forward to the conference and strengthening our partnership further. “
The international conference is attended by members of the European Union, candidate countries, heads of the Statistical Services of Eastern Partnership (EaP) and Central Asian Countries, and high-level representatives of international organizations. It is also attended by representatives of Georgian government agencies, NGOs, scientific circles, and international organizations accredited in the country.
In seven thematic sessions, the conference participants will discuss managing gender data for effective decision-making, time use research, the gender pay gap, the results of the violence against women and girls survey, the Gender Equality Index, gender data completion, and other priority issues.
