Tbilisi: To collect the exact data of population and agriculture, the census has begun in Georgia.
The head of Georgia statistics has shared the information with media representatives in this regard and urged people to provide accurate information to census officials as well.
Gogita Todradze, the current head of the national office of statistics of Georgia shared that the entire practice will be concluded on December 19.
According to him this nationwide population and agriculture census will collect data about the country’s demographic and agricultural landscape, which will be used in the future to better formulate government policies.
It’s worth noting that the process of the census is conducted every ten years. This will also includes the Gender-age composition of pubic. Moreover the main objective of the census will be to collect the necessary data on the various socio-economic parameters of our population.
He further underlined that pubic participation is mandatory in the census process as per the latest amended law. As per the current law all residents of the Republic of Georgia, as well as nationals of foreign countries and stateless persons, have to participate in the entire process.
The length of stay in Georgia is not relevant, as everyone is bound to share his details as required by the law of Georgia. To complete the census process there will be two stages. In the first stage the person will need to self-register.
In this stage the interested person will be able to complete the electronic questionnaire using their computers, tablets, and smartphones at their favourite location and time.
It is worth noting that the electronic process was introduced to help those who cannot attend face-to-face interviews. Similarly in the second stage, data collection will occur from November 29 to December 19. This will involve at least 12000 interviewers who will visit door to door and will use their tablets to collect the data
The aim of the agriculture census is to get detailed information on family farming activities. The official revealed that the data from the Census will be published in June 2025.
