Tbilisi: On Tuesday a railway accident occurred in the Didube-Avchala section in Tbilisi. The accident caused the death of two railway employees who were on duty at the time of the accident.
According to information provided by a representative of Georgian Railway the accident occurred with a train moving towards the Batumi-Tbilisi direction. Although two employees were injured, there is no information about the death of any passenger so far.
The Railway department expressed deep condolences to the family members of its employees who lost their lives in this accident a day ago. The department has also ordered a detailed investigation to ascertain the real truth behind the accident. At the same time forensic experts are also conducting a forensic investigation to find out if there were any technical faults behind the accident.
It is worth mentioning that after the reports of a train accident, another passenger train bound for 17:05 for the same route was canceled. However railway officials assured the passengers that they would be compensated for the cancelled ticket and apologized for the inconvenience.
In this accident  a passenger train rammed into a work platform. The exact location of the accident was an industrial zone of the capital city, Tbilisi. The employees who were killed were busy with scheduled work at the platforms and became victims of tragedy.
On the other hand officials have dispatched ambulances for medical assistance and police teams to the spots. Police teams will help the local administration maintain law and order and keep the situation under control. The entire accident zone has been cordoned off until the investigation is completed, which will shed light on the exact cause of the accident.
Meanwhile  after the accident passengers were told not to leave the train so that the initial investigation could be completed without any disruptions.The passengers were scared after the incident; however  they were allowed to contact their families through emergency numbers.
The railway official while addressing the media  added that all efforts would be made to complete the investigation within a specific time period. The official also announced a review of safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
