The administration of the Dmanisi Municipality of Georgia recently held an information meeting to assess the progress of social programs. The head of health and social protection services of city hall Megi Ediberidze, gave a dedication presentation on various social programs being executed by the administration.
The main objective of the information meeting was to apprise the attendees of how these schemes can bring social change after implementation. The head of the Health and Social Protection Service of the City Hall, Megi Ediberidze who gave a detailed presentation in the City Hall’s conference hall also discussed in detail the benefits of these programs.
The topic of the presentation was “a mechanism for evaluating the effectiveness of municipal social services.” It is worth noting that in 2023 in accordance with the memorandum signed between USAID and the Municipality of Dmanisi, the Local Self-Government Program began work on developing and piloting a mechanism for evaluating the effectiveness of municipal social services.
It is also to be noted that this project was introduced in the pilot mode in the first stage only in two partner municipalities Dmanisi and Tkibuli. Moreover this major project also involves USAID support throughout the entire process, including methodology determination, documentation preparation, training, data collection, etc.
According to the municipal officials the progress of the social program will also be evaluated next year. The meeting was attended by Koba Muradashvili, the mayor of Dmanisi municipality, Paata Kuliashvili, the chairman of the council as well as the employees, program beneficiaries and interested citizens.
At the end of the presentation a discussion was held. The municipality shared glimpses of the meeting on different social media handles. It should be added that most of the attendees’ suggestions were for improving health and education infrastructure.
The head of the services assured all attendees about the initiatives that are in the pipeline and will be implemented by authorities in the future to improve overall health and educational infrastructure with special focus on basic school education and a plan to establish more kindergartens and hospitals.
