Dominica: Dominica celebrated another milestone on February 15, 2025, Saturday, as the country welcomed the inaugural flight of United Airlines from Newark New Jersey.
The celebratory event of the inaugural flight was held at the Douglas-Charles Airport, where ministers including Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit and Tourism Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton were present to welcome the passengers.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards United Airlines for the confidence they have placed in Dominica, and in his speech, he indicated that every positive thing that happens in their country, happens because of God and the citizens of their nation should thank God for this achievement and pray that it multiplies and brings greater benefits.
It should be noted that the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shared glimpses of the welcome ceremony on its official Facebook page noting, “Big things are coming ahead for tourism, business, and connectivity.”
The Tourism Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton addressed the guests present at the special ceremony and noted that this milestone will enhance air access to the country. She stated that with the launch of the historic United Airlines flight from New Jersey to Dominica, the opportunity has grown even bigger for every citizen.
Along with Dominica, it was also a special day for Peter Codrington, pilot of United Airlines’ inaugural flight from New Jersey, as he was born in Dominica. During the special event at Douglas-Charles Airport, he stated that he had the honor of piloting the historic plane, which made it a special occasion for him. He called the special occasion “Big” for the nation, the airline, and for himself as well.
Moreover, the launch of the historic United Airlines flight from New Jersey to Dominica will enhance the tourism sector and will also improve the international connectivity of the Nature Island Nation.
