Chkhorotsku, Georgia: The mayor of Chkhorotsku Municipality, Dato Gogua, and representatives of local self-government have started a series of meetings with the population to discuss the implementation of the Village Support Program. The program aims to finance small infrastructure projects named as a priority by the locals.
The Deputy State Commissioner, Nukri Khasia, and the Head of Regional Project Coordination Service, Nugzar Gabelia, attended the meetings. They visited the Khabume, Choga, Garakha, and Nakiani villages, where they held consultative and general discussions with the residents. They listened to their needs and suggestions and explained the details and procedures of the program.
The Village Support Program is a state-funded initiative that allocated 446,000 GEL to develop Chkhorotsku Municipality this year. The program will support projects such as setting up outdoor lighting, squares, drainages, walkways, sewers, and water supply systems. The projects will be selected based on the proposals and votes of the locals and will be implemented by the local self-government.
The mayor of Chkhorotsku Municipality, Dato Gogua, said that the program is an excellent opportunity to improve the living conditions and the social and economic development of the rural areas. He said, “We are happy to launch the Village Support Program in our municipality, and we are grateful to the state for providing this funding. We are also glad to see the active participation and interest of the population in the program. We will do our best to implement the projects the locals most need and desire.”
The meetings with the population will continue in all administrative units of Chkhorotsku Municipality until the program covers all the villages. The program is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
