Tbilisi: Mayor inspects cableway construction site

Kakha Kaladze the mayor of Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia inspected the site of the cableway construction project to connect Rustaveli Avenue and Mtatsminda Park.

Kakha Kaladze the mayor of Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia inspected the site of the cableway construction project. The project is being executed to connect Rustaveli Avenue and Mtatsminda Park.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the mayor of the capital Kakha Kaladze along with the deputy mayor Irakli Bendeliani got information about the the construction and rehabilitation works of the cableway connecting Rustaveli Avenue and Mtatsminda Park.

Notably the project was started in September 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of this year that is 2024.

On the site the installation of masts and construction of the upper station has been almost completed . Currently works of arranging and roofing the platform of the lower station are in progress and similarly in the future the electrical installation works and the process of stretching the rope will begin.

The mayor of Tbilisi speaking specifically on the inspection stated that “A very significant project is being implemented in the capital city. This project will connect the area around the Rustaveli metro station with Mtatsminda. The works should be completed by the end of summer in all possiblity”. 

he also added “All five supports have been already installed. Over the next few days the ropes will be stretched. The repair works of the reception stations are going on at the same time. The project is very important from the point of view of tourism and for residents because it will be possible to climb Mtatsminda by cable car from Rustaveli in just 4 minutes. About 1,200 passengers will be able to move per hour after the completion of this project. I am very happy that this historical project was started in the capital city”.

At the same time the Majority of MPs of the Parliament of Georgia and Tbilisi Sakrebulo Beka Odisharia and Zurab Abashidze as well as Mtatsminda District Governor Davit Kirkitadze also visited the site and got acquainted with the project.

As per the information about the project at least 21 gondolas will run on the cableway connecting Rustaveli Avenue and Mtatsminda Park and the time to cover the distance will be 4.07 minutes whereas the length of the route will be 845.55 m.

It is also noteworthy that the total cost of the project is 50 million GEL. After rehabilitation the cableway will be handed over to “Mtatsminda Park” for future management.
