Giorgi Amilakhvar holds working meeting with Hovanes Hovanesiani

The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Giorgi Amilakhvar, who is on a working visit to Armenia, attended the opening ceremony of the Georgian Center of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia at Yerevan State University.

Georgia: The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Giorgi Amilakhvar, who is on a working visit to Armenia, attended the opening ceremony of the Georgian Center of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia at Yerevan State University.

During the visit, Giorgi Amilakhvari also held a working meeting with the Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Jhana Andreasen.

Giorgi Amilakhvar addressed the attending community and emphasized the importance of opening the centre to deepen the two countries’ historic friendship.

While speaking, the Minister thanked his Armenian colleague Jhana Andreasen, Rector of Yerevan State University Hovanesiani, and Georgian and Armenian ambassadors for their essential contribution to the project of opening the Georgian Center of Georgia and Armenia.

Giorgi Amilakhvar said that Georgia supports academic research activities and disseminating scholarly knowledge in higher education institutions in strategic partner countries.

According to the Minister, given the typical historical past of Georgia and Armenia, it is important to work together between Georgian and Armenian scientific circles and deepen cooperation between countries in this regard.

At the end of the opening event, Giorgi Amilakhvar gave the centre a museum copy of “Vepkhistkhaosni”.

Yerevan State University’s Center of Georgia will help spread and exchange academic knowledge about Georgian history, culture and literature.

It is noteworthy that before the opening of the Georgian Center of Yerevan University, Giorgi Amilakhvar held a working meeting with Hovanes Hovanesiani, the rector of the University of Yerevan, where he discussed the issues of deepening future cooperation with Georgian higher educational institutions by implementing joint academic programs and scientific-research projects.

Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze attended the Centre of Georgianology’s opening ceremony at Yerevan State University.
