A student of the village Bebnisi public school David Berikashvili told the people that USAID’s civic education program has helped him fulfil his dreams. USAID is an international aid organisation that assists several projects in Georgia.
According to David Berikashvili, “USAID’s Civic Education program has helped me to explore my capabilities and engage in the civil process”.
David is the leader of the school civic club and an active member of the pupil’s self-government. He further said that from many different activities and entrepreneurship project the students started manufacturing and selling decorative candles. Moreover the student initiatives are always supported by the school administration and a civic education teacher.
While appreciating his teachers he added “To put it simply my teacher is first of all a good friend and a person who loves his job. If it weren’t for his determination and hard work none of the activities would be perfect in the schools”.
David also recalls that one of the main goals of Bebnisi school pupils was to keep students’ parents active and include them in school life which they had already achieved. According to him USAID’s Civic Education program provides students with an interesting direction and advises their peers to take advantage of these opportunities.
He further noted that “Civic education contributes to the development of skills that later make life more interesting and active, similalry it also helps us take responsibility for ourselves and makes us independent people”.
USAID civic education program also took to their social media and shared the story of David. The organisation also thanked him for the words of appreciation he expressed about the school and commented, “Thank you so much for promoting our school”.
It is to be specifically mentioned that USAID is providing assistance to three civil society organizations to raise awareness about the role of citizens in civic life, especially among women, youth, and PWD.
