TSU students participate in 47th mock  trial of int. law

Tbilisi: The students of Tbilisi State University participated in the 47th international rounds of the mock trial of international law named after Telders. They also won many prizes in this competition.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the students of TSU were presented at the international competition by the students’ Faculty of Law undergraduate program. Some students’ names  include Mariam Oniani, Anano Nachkebia, Demetri Diasamidze, and Elene-Ekaterine Dvalidze. Moreover, the team’s captian was Aleksandre Pataraia, a graduate of the international law program and a master’s student.

It is also worth to mentionnd that as per the total assessments a plaintiff (student)  of the team of Tbilisi State University  as a result of successful competition in the international rounds  took the 3rd prize place  and according to the written positions, both the plaintiffs and the defendants took the 5th place. The members of the team gained international recognition and were among the best speakers.

Notably  this year’s results are particularly commendable due to the challenge the team faced a few days before the competition. One of the team members refused to participate in the competition and was replaced by a new member under extreme conditions. But, despite this difficult situation, the team performed decently in the competition and successfully coped with the difficulties, making the University proud.

It must be remembered that the Elder’s Mock Process of International Law has been held every year since 1977 and is the most prestigious international legal competition on the European continent. Teams from leading European universities participate in the competition and discuss current issues of modern international law. This year’s case covered a wide range of topics, including the requests for interim measures before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), including ICJ jurisdiction, international maritime law, and international cyber security law.

On this occasion  27 leading European university teams participated in this year’s international rounds. The TSU team competed against teams from France, Hungary, Great Britain, and Romania.
