Georgia: The Environmental Information and Education Center honors the life of veterans on the occasion of ‘World Veterinary Day’. This is celebrated every year on April 26 to foster the profession, acknowledging and valuing the significant professional contribution veterinarians make to the public health, and accentuating the works of veterinarians.
World Veterinary Day celebrations began in 2000 in association with the World Veterinary Association and is celebrated on the last Saturday of April every year. Each year on this day there is a new theme set for World Veterinary Day which shifts the focus to a specific aspect of veterinary work. The theme for World Veterinary Day this year is Animal Health is a Team”.
This year, the theme focuses on collaboration of veterinarians, farmers, pet owners, policy makers and other active participants for the benefit and welfare of the animals. It encourages communities to work together to strengthen animal health systems and enhance biosecurity measures.
Actions done by the Center in marking World Veterinary Day
The Environmental Information and Education Center undertakes campaigns, educational activities, and workshops to commemorate this day. The objective of the projects is to demonstrate how vital veterinarians are, not only for the health of animals but also for safeguarding human health and protecting the environment as a whole.
On this occasion, the compassion and expertise of veterinarians is recognized for looking after domesticated and wild animals, and for enduring the often arduous work conditions. These people make a difference in supporting sustainable agriculture, livelihood and biodiversity conservation.
Celebrating World Veterinary Day serves as a reminder for all to consolidate that the health of animals, humans, and the planet are inseparable. The Center restates its commitment that will be made to the medical doctors of animals to build awareness and emphasize the significance that these professionals have towards fostering wellness and sustainability for everyone.
