A personal exhibition of surrealist artist Nino Lortkipanidze was opened in the Museum of Art Palace-Culture of Georgia; a presentation of the artist’s catalogue works was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.
The event was attended by Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani, Director of the Palace of Arts Giorgi Kalandia and family members of the artist.
It is worth noting that this is the first exhibition after the painter’s death. Nino Lortkipanidze died suddenly abroad during the pandemic.
His sister took care of the artist’s works, bringing them back to the homeland and introducing the most decadent surrealistic world of Nino Lortkipanidze of the Ministry to a broad audience. In light of an unexpected death, arranging a personal exhibition for the artist is even more critical.
Printing the catalogue of works of Nino Lortkipanidze is the winning project of the Ministry of Culture’s competition – “Promoting free projects in the culture sector”.
The bilingual catalogue unites the artist’s works from different periods. Giorgi Kalandia, journalist Marika Bakuradze, designer Irakli Zambakhidze and editorial consultant Rusudan Lortkipanidze worked on the album’s text.
It is challenging to set boundaries for the work of Nino (Dodo) Lortkipanidze. The shapes and colours on her canvases are impossible to explain; instead, they can be represented by how many people can read her albums. At the exhibition, which runs until December 11, the artist will see up to 30 exciting and impressive works.
Notably, Nino Lortkipanidze’s sister, Mrs. Rusudan, gifted two works of the artist to Dimitri Shevardnadze’s National Gallery of Georgia and the Museum of Art Palace and Culture of History.

Her exhibition features her paintings that explore the themes of hair, skin, and identity. She uses surreal imagery and symbolism to express her vision and emotions. Her medical research and practice inspire some of her works.
The exhibition is held at the Museum of Art Palace-Culture of Georgia, located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The museum showcases Georgia and other countries’ cultural heritage and contemporary art.
The exhibition opened on November 15, 2023, and will last until December 15, 2023. The entrance fee is 10 Georgian lari (about 3 US dollars). The museum is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, except on Mondays.
