 Georgian Environment Agencies fine Polluting Vehicles

 Employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture from September 4 till present in 4 large cities of Georgia - Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Batumi checked the emissions of moving vehicles and fined the violators.

Tbilisi: Employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision under the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture from September 4 till present in 4 large cities of Georgia – Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Batumi checked the emissions of moving vehicles. The moving squad of the concerned department launched this drive against the polluting vehicle.

It is to be specifically mentioned that Within three months after the law came into force, 2460 offenders were fined by the department. They were fined by moving crews memebr of concerned department for non-conformity with the established norm for the emission of motor vehicles.

As per the other details of Department employees the 1149 violations in Tbilisi, 525 violations were recorded in Kutaisi. similarly, 432 – in Batumi, 354 – in Rustavi cases of violation were reported.

Moreover out of 2460 penalty bills 2114 bills were written in the name of a natural person, whereas In 346 cases, employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision fined legal entities.

It is to be worth noting that 1451 penalty receipts were issued against drivers of light cars, including 851 – minibuses, 157 – truck types, and 1 in the name of the bus driver.

Notbaly for non-conformity with the legal norm of the emission of motor vehicles in the case of a natural person the fine amount is 100 GEL for first-violators, 300 GEL for second-violators, and 600 GEL for third-time violators of traffic rules. Similarly In the case of a legal entity the fine is 500, 1500 and 3000 GEL, respectively.

Authorities also made it clear that If the fine is paid within ten days the amount of the fine will be reduced by 20% for the offender.Anyone can check fines on the Department of Environmental Supervision’s official website by visitng www.des.gov.ge. 

The checking crew member was equipped with all the necessary equipment. They check all vehicles on the spot with the use of this latest Pollution-checking equipment.

As per the authorities vehicle pollution is the cause of concern. To make the Environment of cities clean and neat this checking drive will continue in future. They also advised the vehicle owner to follow the proper pollution Guidelines to avoid the heavy penalty for violation.

It is the responsibility of all the agencies as well as common citizens to join hands with each other to overcome the challenge of Vehicular pollution in Georgia.
