Georgia: Minister of Environment and Agriculture Otar Shamugia visited MMG Agriculture’s nut garden, built by Georgian-Jewish investment in Lower Avalon village of Khobi municipality, and met with the nut farmers who own industrial gardens.

Otar Shamugia stated, “We often meet farmers and hear information about their existing needs. The nut sector in Georgia has great potential; our goal is to support farmers as much in the financial sector as possible and give them access to necessary knowledge. With quality crops, farmers will be more competitive and earn more.”

“Last year, we had a rather difficult year with climate conditions, so there were some quality challenges. Overall, the harvest was 5,000 tons more than last year, and this year, we expect much better. We hope that state programs and farmers’ activity will give us a good result together,” Otar Shamugia declared.

The company MMG Agriculture, with the support of the state program ‘Plant the Future ‘, has built a nut garden on more than 300 hectares with Georgian-Jewish investment. The construction of a 50-ha nut garden was financed by 50,000 GEL, demonstrating the significant role of this state program in supporting agricultural initiatives.

As the owner of the company Paata Siradze reveals, he utilized the concessionary agrocredit, a substantial amount exceeding 1.5 million GEL, provided by the state. This financial support underscores the government’s commitment to agricultural development and informs readers about the available funding options.

It should be noted that in the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region, within the framework of the program “Plant the Future,” 43 million GEL is co-financed to construct new perennial gardens on 3,291 hectares, including 1.2 million GEL to construct new nut gardens on 505 ha.

More than 123 million GEL of concessionary agro credit, including 9,1 million GEL for planting nuts, has been provided for gardening development in the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region.
