Georgian PM meets President of European Parliament in Brussels

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, met with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metzola during his official visit to Brussels.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, met with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola during his official visit to Brussels.

The main topic of discussion at the meeting was the prospects of receiving EU Membership candidate status.

According to the Prime Minister, the country appreciates the unwavering support of the European Parliament and EU organisations on the path of European integration, especially at such an important time for Georgia, when the country is awaiting the assessment of the European Commission and the relevant decision of the Council.

The security situation in the region was noted at the meeting. The Prime Minister reiterated Georgia’s solidarity with the Ukrainians, noting that more than 500 tons of humanitarian aid had been sent from Georgia to Ukraine by air and land to help the Ukrainian people.

After an extensive meeting, the Prime Minister and the President of the European Parliament held a face-to-face meeting.

Irakli Gharibashvili made a memorable entry in the book of honorary guests of the European Parliament.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the President of the European Parliament for the continuous support of the European Parliament in the process of Georgia’s accession to the European Union.

Georgian PM will also meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday.

According to the NATO press office, the meeting will take place at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the NATO press office announced.
