Europe: The European Commission has launched ‘Laptops for Ukraine’ campaign with an aim to provide tech support to the war-affected citizens in Ukraine. The Commission looks to provide the digital equipment for teachers, students, doctors, nurses, public administrative bodies and other sectors to stay updated and functionally active in dire circumstances.

Under the campaign, the Commission would collect tech devices from European citizens residing anywhere in the European countries and deliver them to war-affected citizens in Ukraine. The citizens can donate any devices, such as spare laptops, smartphones or tablets, that have been serving no use or have been lying around in homes or offices.

The Russian aggression in Ukraine has devastated the lives of millions of Ukrainians, be it the loss of life, property and civilian infrastructure. As per reports, more than 200.000 students have been affected and have been learning remotely.

But the shortage of electronic devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones has imbibed a fear of being disconnected from the internet and the rest of the world. Earlier, it was reported that the Russian forces had destroyed schools in Ukraine and looted whatever digital equipment they could find.

The Administrative offices have also been the target of the Russian missiles, which damaged the buildings and the entire ICT equipment.

The European Union has always stood in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainians. It hasn’t been long since the launch of the ‘Generators of Hope’ campaign that envisaged the donation of power generators to Ukraine. The electricity outages have been prevalent in Ukraine following the strikes over the key power grids and other infrastructure.

To ensure the Ukrainians have access to power and heat in the winter, the EU launched the campaign and garnered immense support from the European public, who came out in numbers and made their contributions to express their solidarity with Ukraine.
