European Council calls Georgia to advance on reforms

The European Council on March 21,2024 Has adopted conclusions on various issues including the Ukraine.

The European Council on March 21,2024 Has adopted conclusions on various issues including the Ukraine. The other issues that found mention were security and defence, Middle East, enlargement and reforms, migration, preparedness and crisis response, and European Semester.

Similarly the other things that were discussed included Georgia’s ongoing efforts and encourages the country to advance on the outstanding priority reforms.

The European Council, the EU (European Union) institution that defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union on this occasion they pledged “to continue to support Georgia in in strengthening its resilience and addressing the challenges it faces. These are the challenges which are being thrown as a consequence of Russia’s actions to undermine Georgia’s territorial integrity as well as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.”

In the conclusions of this meeting the European Council emphasizes the importance of advancing preparation work. This preparation of work will be in parallel on both tracks. The first one will be taken on the side of the EU (European union) and the potential member states as well, this will be “to ensure that both future Member States and the EU are ready at the time of accession.” “The European Council will also address internal reforms at an upcoming meeting with a view to adopting by summer 2024 conclusions on a roadmap for future work.”

It is to be specifically mentioned that as for the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the conclusions say, “Russia must not prevail over the territory of other countries” and the European Council “is ever more steadfast” in its support for Ukraine also always ready and pledge to continue “providing Ukraine and its people all the necessary political, financial, economic, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support.”

Similarly the European Council “invites allies and partners across the world to join in this endeavour to fight the violation of territorial integrity of independent countries across the European region”.
