Europe: The Council of the European Union publicizes the launch of ConSIMium, a Council simulation experience for university students from all the European Union member countries. Within the framework of the ConSIMium programme, the 27 teams of students from all the EU member countries will get to experience first-hand negotiations between member states and get acquainted with the process that goes behind making decisions at the European level.
The ConSIMium would provide the students with a crash-course experience in European policy-making as they negotiate new rules for the whole European Union.Â
The inaugural edition of the ConSIMium will be held in Brussels on February 2 and 3, 2023. The General Secretariat of the Council will be organizing the event.
As planned, six students from each state, leading the tally to 162 students from 27 states and 27 national coordinators, have already been selected at the national level, in compliance with the agreed principles and criteria of selection.
The Students participating in the event would be stepping into the shoes of the national policymakers, thus gaining a better understanding of the role of each member state in the European Union’s decision-making. The students will also get to learn about how the institutions of the EU work, particularly the European Council.
Additionally, the participants would develop a deeper sense of belonging to a European project while acquiring teamwork and negotiation skills.Â
Also, the development of insights into future professional opportunities and inspiration for a future career in public service will be inculcated among the participants.
