The foreign minister Maka Botchorishvili have discussed current situation of country with United Kingdom ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward. The high-level meeting between both sides have touched upon many bilateral issues.
The foreign minister Maka Botchorishvili while speaking at the meeting added, “It is very important to assess ongoing events on country in impartial and transparent manners. The world needs to know the why anti-Georgian forces want to destabilise the Georgia with their illegal and unethical acts.”
He said Government is open to any international investigation to violent incidents. The violent clashes erupted in Georgia when ruling party Georgian Dream announced to halt talks about Georgia’s integration in European Union. The Georgan Draam led by Georgian Dream has decided to suspend accession talks until year 2028.
However, many opposition parties criticise this move of Georgian Dream. They also blamed that the decision has been taken under undue influence of Georgia. They also alleged that this would affect bilateral relation of Georgia with many countries especially countries of European Union.
At the same time the issues of arrest of some individuals were also raised. This included that arrest of journalist which was termed by opposition partis as measure to stifle independent media voices.
On asking of Ambassador about arrest and detention by law enforcement authorities he said that this is all being done in legal ways. He said the rights of people are sacred and authorities will take care of such rights while dealing with anti-social elements.
He apprised the ambassador that Georgian law enforcement authorities are very professional and are taking care of human rights protecting while maintaining law and order. The measures being taken by Georgian authorities as well as law enforcers are very clear.
The rights are being protected the medical care is also provided to detailers. According to foreign minister Georgia is ready to cooperate with international organisation for impartial and transparent review of incidents. Moreover, Georgian authorities concerned with law and order are sharing relevant information instantly with international human rights institutions.
