Tbilisi: The President of France, Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday called over phone to Bidzina Ivanishvili. Bidzina Ivanishvili is the honorary chairman of ruling party Georgian Dream. Frech president have urged Bidzina Ivanishvili for solving current political crisis of Georgia via dialogue.
It is to be noted that after these bilateral talks both sides have released a press statement as well. The Frech side statement stated, “The president on France fully condemned crackdown on the civil society and the opposition leaders and representatives. The President also condemned incident of violence being committed against peaceful demonstrators and journalists.”
As per the statement the French President also called Georgian Dream official to immediate release all those who have been arrested by authorities without any legal basis.
He also expressed deep concern over the decision of Georgian government to suspend talks for integration into European Union. According to him this decision on Georgian government will affect against the interests of Georgian government.
On the other hand, Georgan Dream also issued a statement in this regard. As per the details of statement, “the conversation between both sides ended more than one hour. Moreover, France is willing for every kind of assistance to solve current crisis of Georgia. Moreover, both the sides also agreed to discuss in this regard as well.
While taking to social media handles, Georgian Dream shared detailed information about the talks. The official Facebook page of Georgian Dream stated that, “French President raised issues of detained persons.
In response to this Georgian Dream honorary chairman told him that, most of detainees are under preventive custody and will be releases soon once situation becomes normal.
However, the person who have been charged with criminal offence will be prosecuted as per law. This phone conversation was held following the meeting of Georgian President with her French counterpart and Donald Trump recently.
Georgian President while speaking about these meetings said that she has revealed all detailed about the violence incident during election. She also revealed to world leaders how Georgian Dream used illegal methods to put pressure on voters.
