Georgia: With the aim to assist various ethnic minority groups, the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA) has designed a number of projects focused on consumer rights. GCCA, as of 4 April, 2025, uploaded a recap of the visit to Kasumlo village on their official Facebook page.
Around the time of their trip to Kasumlo public school in Marneuli Municipality, the GCCA took the graduating class through an interactive workshop on consumer rights and competition for twelfth graders.Â
The ethnic minorities were targeted for further domestic assimilation and incorporation into the system as young citizens by teaching them about the consumer education system of the state which is called the consumer protection education system.
However, I must say that the lectures which the staff of the GCCA teach do provide an adequate instructor-like level where citizens begin to comprehend what steps they can undertake regarding breaches of consumer rights. Fleshing out real life situations, they also taught the pupils competition law and the essence of a free market alongside fairness in the market.Â
Some of the more visible consumer problems were examined in an open discussion approach so that students were able to put forward their grievances and receive answers on them from agency’s specialists. Not only were the objectives accomplished, but the students also actively participated in shaping the discussions.
School Visit Schedule April 2025
Looking forward, GCCA has already scheduled school visits during the month of April in 2025. This schedule includes instructional activities in the villages of Arashendi (Gurjaani Municipality), Ganjali (Lagodekhi Municipality), Karajali (Telavi Municipality), Jokolo (Akhmeti Municipality), and Lambalo (Sagarejo Municipality). The purpose is to achieve coverage of all minority inhabited areas with the campaign and outreach initiatives. Â
Educational Activities Organized by GCCA
To date, similar educational activities have already been carried out in Rustavi’s School #18, Tbilisi’s School #98, Garabani’s School #4 and Akhalkalaki where GCCA has had stakeholder engagements. These events demonstrate the agency’s efforts to promote legal literacy, equity, and participation among the Georgian population by integrating all age groups with particular focus on the youth from marginalized or distant populations regions which have been enduring neglect in developing regions.
