Georgia and Hungary review Stipendium Hungaricum Program

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baia Kvitsiani, discussed the competition announced within the annual scholarship program “Stipendium Hungaricum” with the Deputy Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting in which these discussions were held on its official Facebook Page on February 20, 2026, Friday. The Georgian Education Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.

Baia Kvitsiani thanked the Hungarian side for supporting the Georgian education system and talked about the importance of providing students with the opportunity to continue their studies abroad. As the Deputy Minister noted, the exchange program for Georgian youth has been successfully implemented in Hungary for 10 years, and the demand for participants is increasing every year.

The meeting was held to implement “Stipendium Hungaricum” more effectively, improving and expanding the services offered to students.

In her turn, Sofia Kelemen emphasized the high academic performance of Georgian students and expressed her willingness to strengthen cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Ivane Javakhishvili’s guest lecturer on Hungarian culture and language of Tbilisi State University, Arpad Eleshi.

Stipendium Hungaricum has been implemented since 2016 for both Georgian and Hungarian young people. The scholarship program, funded by the Hungarian government, aims to finance the studies of up to 80 Georgian citizens in undergraduate, master’s, integrated master’s (OTM), doctoral, and semester exchange programs, as well as non-degree certificate courses in Hungary.

The Georgian government has funded 10 Hungarian citizens for short-term courses or research visits at authorized Georgian higher education institutions and research institutes. Funding means to pay for both studies and life-related expenses while studying.
