Tbilisi: In the latest session of the Government of Georgia, held under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, the officials discussed Cash aid for “maternity leave” among various other issues. In the latetst amendments, the Cash aid for the expecting mothers on a maternity leave was determined at 2000 GEL instead of 1000 GEL.
Under the leadership of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, a government meeting was held in the government administration, where Members of the Cabinet of Ministers discussed 11 issues on the agenda.
Among the issues under discussion were the draft of the Georgian government “determining the amount of paid leave for pregnancy and child care, as well as paid leave for newborn child adoption and some measures to be taken”. According to the project, the amount of this financial aid was determined by 2000 Georgian Lari instead of 1000 Georgian Lari.
In addition, in connection with the above-mentioned assistance, the public school teachers, for pregnancy, child care, and for newborn adoption, as an additional social security measure, will be given an additional remuneration to Georgia’s educators to cover the full amount of labor and payable salary during the vacation period.Â
Within the framework of the assignments allocated to him by the Ministry of Nires; The regulation will apply to those employees who will be benefited from pregnancy and childbirth leave, childcare leave and adoption leave from January 1, 2023, according to Georgian law.
Before the implementation of the above amendments in the Organic Law of Georgia – “Labor Code of Georgia”. The amount of payment for “maternity leave” has remained at 1000 GEL since 2014.
