On the occasion of the 904th anniversary of the Battle of Didgori, the event “Didgoroba” was held at the Defence Ministry of Georgia. The event likely included various activities and ceremonies to mark the occasion and honor the victory.
The Ministry of Defence of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its photographs.
More than nine centuries have passed since the battle of Didgori. Public events related to the 904th anniversary of the battle were traditionally held at the memorial on Didgori Field. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani addressed the society gathered on the public holiday.
The Prime Minister focused attention on the importance of the Didgori battle in the history of Georgia. By its definition, this day is a symbol of the Georgian nation’s indomitable spirit, unity, and victory.
The Defense Minister noted in his speech that being proud is not only about remembering past glories, but also an opportunity to realize once again the experiences of our proud ancestors.
According to his statement, every military serviceman of the Defense Forces is a worthy successor of this historical heritage. Bishop Shio, the founder of the Patriarchal Throne, congratulated the gathered community on the Feast of the Greatness.
Irakli Chikovani awarded military personnel of the Defense Forces with the extraordinary medal “Didgori Cross”. Soldiers are awarded medals for their actions of courage, leadership qualities, and bravery in saving the life of a fellow soldier.
Representatives of the Georgian Government, Defense Forces, as well as local municipalities and church personnel, attended the public holiday of Didgoroba.
For the guests gathered at Didgori’s memorial, a concert and a theatrical performance were held. The gathered society also had the opportunity to look at the entrepreneurial and ethnic corners.
