Georgia: On January 14, Georgia celebrates the National Flag Day. The flag hoisting ceremony was held in various Ministry of Internal Affairs departments on National Flag Day.
Georgians marked the festive occasion with the young Georgian students, remembering the history of Georgian statehood and children performing the national anthem.
The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, said, “Our flags serve as a demonstration of our strength. It is more than a mere material symbol; The flag encapsulates the essence of Georgia, its values, identity, beliefs, past struggles, and the promise of current and future victories.”
Flags were displayed in Ambrolauri municipality on this day. The municipality’s mayor, Zviad Mkheidze, noted, “Congratulations on the Day of the State Flag of Georgia! He is the property of every citizen. The state flag is a symbol of the values for which Georgia has always been striving”.
The European Union Representation in Georgia congratulates citizens on the Day of the National Flag of Georgia. “Happy Georgian National Flag Day” from the EU Delegation in Georgia.
Many ministers posted their views about the national flag day on social media apps like Facebook and Twitter. They all wish that the Georgian flag always fly high towards a future filled with hope and prosperity!
Shalva Papuashvili, the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and a member of the Political Council, writes on Twitter, “Happy National Flag Day! Our flag is a centuries-old symbol representing our nation, church, and state. The modern Georgia flag’s symbolism can be traced back to the 6th century, when it first appeared on the walls of St. Nino Church in the village of Ude, in the historic Samtskhe region.”
Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, also writes about National Flag Day on Twitter, “Happy National Flag Day, Georgia!
