Georgia: In the framework of the project “Protect the Cleanliness of Georgia”, the competition “Clean Region 2022” has been announced for the seventh time.
“Georgian Green Movement / Friends of the Earth – Georgia” initiative, and with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, within the framework of the project “Keep Georgia Clean”, the competition “Clean Region 2022” has been announced for the seventh time.
Clean Region “is the most important competition we have been holding for the seventh year. More and more people are participating in the competition; Both private and public sectors are involved. I think the results of 2022 will be very positive, which will help our environment. The competition helps raise public awareness, reduce natural landfills and, most importantly, improve the waste management system. “- Said the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili.
According to Nino Chkhobadze, chairman of the Georgian Green Movement / Friends of the Earth-Georgia, the aim of the competition is to minimize the amount of waste and environmental pollution, which brings us closer to European standards.
Within the framework of the competition “Clean Region 2022”, the cleanest region in the whole country, “Clean Municipality”, “Clean City / Town”, “Clean Village / Community”, “Clean / Beautiful Street”, “Clean / Beautiful Yard” , “Clean beautiful enterprise / institution yard”, “Beautiful balcony” and “Clean blue stream” will be revealed.
The project is implemented by non-governmental organizations “Protect Georgia Clean” (KGT), Georgian Nature Researchers Union “Orkis”, “Georgian Green Movement / Friends of the Earth – Georgia”, Georgian Environmental Protection and Farmer In cooperation with the Ministry of Obis and its structural unit, SIP Environmental Information and Education Center, as well as solid waste management company and with the support of Swedish government.

Based on the submitted materials, a special commission created within the competition (Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, representatives of public organizations, journalists) will identify the winner of the 2022 Clean Region. The award ceremony will be held in the spring of 2023.
