The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Georgia has congratulated the Gogi Margvelashvili on his appointment as the artistic director of the Marjanishvili Theater. He will remain in this position for the next four years.
It is to be specifically added that the now the Gogi Margvelashvili has been appointed as the artistic director of the Professional State Drama Theater. Notably the theatre has been named after Kote Marjanishvili by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
Gogi Margvelashvili’s professional life has contributed greatly to the promotion of the music culture of Georgia. He is related activity to the Georgian theater and the education of talented generations. After mastering as the specialist drama director at the Tbilisi State Theater Institute he started teaching there.
Again in 2001-2005 he was the chief director of the Theater of Movie Actors named after Mikheil Tumanishvili in 2005-2009 the artistic director of the same theater in 2014-2020 the rector of the State University of Theater and Cinema named after Shota Rustaveli.
Similarly from 2009 he was the chief director of the Griboedov State Theater and since April 2023 he has been the deputy rector of the Shota Rustaveli State University of Theater and Cinema of Georgia.
Gogi Margvelashvili is the winner of many prizes and awards. Among them are the prize of the Union of Theater Workers for the director’s work (1994) , the prize of the Rustavi Theater Festival for the best director (1996), the prize of the Union of Theater Workers of Georgia for the best director’s work (2001), the prize for the best experimental director (Rustavi International Theater Festival, 2004) and others.
Gogi Margvelashvili has been appointed as the artistic director of Kote Marjanishvili Theater for the next 4 years by the Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia under the discretionary authority granted to him by law.
On the other hand Gogi Margvelashvili also expressed his gratitude towards the Ministry and government and said that he will do his best for the promotion of Georgian art, music and culture across the globe during his tenure as well.
