Georgia: Director of the maritime transport agency visits Hamburg port in Germany

Alexi Akhvlediani, The Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, visited the Hamburg Port in Germany. He was accompanied by the staff members of the agency, patrol police and a representative of the Customer Department of Georgia. The visit was aimed at implementing digital techniques for the maritime security in Georgia.

Alexi Akhvlediani, The Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, visited the Hamburg Port in Germany. He was accompanied by the staff members of the agency, patrol police and a representative of the Customer Department of Georgia. The visit was aimed at implementing digital techniques for maritime security in Georgia.

The Hamburg port of Germany is one of the largest ports in Germany. The Hamburg port is also ranked second among Europe’s largest container shipments centre.

It is to be specifically mentioned that Hamburg is located in a strategically important location. Due to its strategic location, this becomes an important port and also serves as the Railway and aviation hub of Germany.

Hamburg has also earned recognition as a model centre for the excellence of the joint work of maritime single window systems and port unification systems.  It is worth mentioing that Technical support to Georgia for the implementation and development of a single window system is provided by the Hamburg Harbor Consultative group.

On this occasion, the members of the visiting delegation also visited the Hamburg ship movement monitoring centre, Hamburg Maritime Centre and container terminal.

They also visited the other facilities of the port, including the maritime single window system, the port union system, operational centre DAKOSY. Delegation members got in-depth information on the working of the digital system at the port.

Many fruitful meetings were also held by the visiting Gerogian Delegation . Meeting includes  a meeting with the managing director of the Hamburg consulting centre (HPC), Nils Kem; another important meeting was held with the frank buse, who is head of the partnership with the Europe. Meeting session also includes meeting with the managing director of the Hamburg Ship Movement Monitoring centre (HVCC), Gerald haired and the meeting with the manager of the marine single window and harbour integration system (PCS) operational centre DAKOSY  and with the well director Wilrich Vrage.

Delagtion members, after the visit, stated that it was a great experience to have a stay at the Hamburg Port. They also said that initiative will be taken to implement the latest digital techniques at the Georgian ports on the pattern of the German ports.
