Georgia discusses peace policy with UN ambassadors

The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia, Tea Akhvlediani held a meeting with accredited UN ambassadors on April 16, 2026, Thursday.
The Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on April 16, 2026, Thursday. A small note of information about the meeting was also shared along with its glimpses.
The Minister of State stressed the importance of the visit of the permanent representatives of countries accredited to the UN to Georgia and the importance of fruitful cooperation within the UN. Tea Akhvlediani thanked ambassadors for their strong support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at the internationally recognized borders.
The Minister of State introduced to foreign diplomats the priorities of public policy both in terms of reconciliation and inclusion with the occupied regions, as well as ethnic minorities in terms of civil equality and integration.
Tea Akhvlediani reviewed individual dimensions of Georgian government’s peace policy. Spoke on the process of implementation of reconciliation and inclusion policies, including the “Step Towards a Better Future” for peace initiative, which aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of conflict-affected population and deepening dialogue and trust based on common interests among artificially divided societies.
Special attention was given to the humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, and the Minister of State emphasized that, in light of the consequences of the ongoing occupation, displaced persons and refugees are not allowed to return safely and with dignity to their homes.
In their turn, the ambassadors expressed great interest in the Georgian government’s peace policy and its experience, thanked the Minister of State for providing explanations and comprehensive information
