Georgia: Education and Science Committee of Parliament holds meeting on school educational resources issue

Georgia: The Education and Science Committee of the Parliament held meetings in Mestia within the framework of the thematic research on the issue of "Practices for the use of school educational resources in the process of providing effective teaching and learning".

Georgia: The Education and Science Committee of the Parliament held meetings in Mestia within the framework of the thematic research on the issue of “Practices for the use of school educational resources in the process of providing effective teaching and learning”.

During the three-day official visit, the members of the research group visited the Svaneti Historical-Ethnographic Museum and got familiarised with the practice of using the museum’s resources by local schools and the services available to students. 

In the same process, the deputies visited Tetnuld Vocational College to get acquainted with the practice of using the resources of a vocational education institution and to get familiarised with the practice of educational resources by the institutions; they visited Latali Public School and Mestia N1 Public School.



“Today, we visited a vocational college in Mestia, as well as two public schools. We inspected the training infrastructure and got acquainted with the programs they implement. For our research, it is essential to know the conditions under which our students and vocational college students have to study in order to have more support for our mountainous regions. “It is important for us that education is accessible to all,” said Giorgi Amilakhvari, chairman of the Education and Science Committee.

According to Tamar Taliashvili, the head of the thematic research group, the aim of the research is to increase the involvement of the regions in the policy-making and implementation process and to get acquainted with the challenges in the field.



“It is especially important for the Committee on Education and Science to find out on the spot what kind of educational resources, challenges and problems there are,” Tamar Taliashvili said.

The field visit is supported by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
