Georgia: The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took part in the opening ceremony of the first literary festival in Kutaisi, which was held on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The Minister addressed the audience and spoke about the festival’s importance, noting that it would be crucial to engage the young generation and foster their interest in art.
Scientists, literary experts, translators, writers, poets, and publishers from Georgia, Germany, Austria, and Japan participated in the International Literary Festival.
The event also aimed to strengthen global literary cooperation, offering a platform where emerging Georgian writers could interact with international authors, exchange creative ideas, and explore opportunities for future collaborations.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Kutaisi gained the status of UNESCO City of Literature. The first international literary festival of Kutaisi was founded within the framework of this status, which will promote the development of intercultural dialogue.
The three-day event brings together section discussions, book launches, work meetings, and cultural events. The festival includes actual literary and cultural themes.
Within the framework of the festival, an exhibition “Illustration of Georgian Book” was organized in the Kutaisi Fine Art Gallery named after David Kakabadze, where works from the collections of the National Museum of Georgia, Shalva Amiranashvili State Museum of Art, and David Kakabadze Kutaisi Gallery of Fine Art were presented.
In the following days, the exhibition “Kutaisi Foliants”, X-XIX will be held in the Kutaisi State Historical Museum named after Niko Berdzenishvili. Old Georgian and Oriental manuscripts from the museum’s collections.
