The National Olympic Committee of Georgia and the Association of Sports Journalists of Georgia held an Olympic Media Seminar for representatives of sports media. It was organized by the Olympic Solidarity Program funding of the International Olympic Committee, on 21-23 November, in the hotel “Olympi.”
The seminar was opened, and the Olympic Committee President, Olympic Champion Leri Khabelov, First Vice President Elguja Berishvili, and President of the Sports Journalists Association Giga Gventsadze addressed the audience with a welcome speech.
Leri Khabelov noted, “The role of sports media is vital and special for our sport and Olympic movement. Sports fans receive operational information about the success of Georgian athletes through journalists, who create our sports magazine, promote sports, motivate young people, and lead discussions on actual and problematic issues.
According to him, the Olympic Committee is interested in supporting sports media representatives, working closely with the association to take care of their professional development. This is exactly what the Olympic Media-Seminar serves, which, as before, is hosted by Borjomi. “Important issues of Georgian sports and Olympic movement were discussed at the seminar, which was held for three days,” he added.
The participants of the seminar were presented with interesting presentations: SEOK’s first vice president, Elguja Berishvili, vice president, winner of all three Olympic medals and Guinness record holder Nino Salukvadze, general secretary Emzar Zenaishvili, head of international relations service Rusudan Aptsiaur, vice president of the association of sports journalists Tengiz Pachkoria, three-time Olympic champion, Olympic club president Kakhi Kakhiashvili, and psychologist David Nanobashvili.
There was also a discussion on the actual issues of sports journalism. A quiz was held, and winners were given symbolic souvenir gifts from the Olympic Committee.
At the end of the seminar, the President of the Olympic Committee, the Olympic Champion Leri Khabelov, and the President of the Sports Journalists Association, Giga Gventsadze, gave the certificates to the participants.
