Georgia: Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili addressed the audience, who congratulated all the people in the diplomatic service on their professional holiday and thanked them for their contribution to the country’s service and protection of state interests.
“We expressed a special attitude towards our diplomats, who had to protect Georgia’s interests in the international arena in a very difficult period. We believe that diplomats have a special role in representing our country on the international stage and protecting the country’s interests. As you know, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a departmental award named after Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, which is given to our diplomats for outstanding achievements and special diplomatic activities. I am glad that within the framework of this event, we were able to select specific people to whom this award was presented,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Ilia Darchiashvili presented the departmental award named after Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani:
Merab Antadze, a famous Georgian diplomat and a researcher of the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, for his fruitful work in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia since the period of restoration of independence of Georgia and for his contribution to the process of reconciliation and peaceful conflict resolution.
To an experienced Georgian diplomat, currently a researcher at the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Georgia, Mikheil Ukleba, for his long and fruitful work in the diplomatic service of Georgia, including standing at the head of the country’s integration into the European Union and for his significant contribution to this work.
Diplomat’s Day has been celebrated every year since 2004 and is connected with the birthday of the greatest Georgian writer, public figure and diplomat, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani. It should be noted that the departmental award named after Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani was established in 2020.
