Georgia is open to join EU in dignified way: Parliament speaker

Shalva Papuashvili, the speaker of the Georgian parliament has said, Georgia’s journey towards European Union must be dignified.

The statement of speaker came amid ongoing protest throughout the county against Georgia government decision to suspend talk for joining the European Union.

It is worth to mention that speaker said today that, we are no rigid towards Georgia. However, in case Georgia joins European Union it will be in very dignified way. He expressed concern that while we are open for all possibilities, but this is sad that only few understand ground reality.

He also underlined the protesters have not listen to any single word about peaceful integration into European Union without damaging national interest of Georgia. They are being misled by people having vested interests.  

According to speaker we are very thankful to Georgian people who have shown a great and huge trust in Georgian Drea. Notably Georgian Dream have regained political powers in October election this year and received a thumbing majority as well.

This was very good to see that Georgia people chooses us for stable government in Georgia. However, there are some radical forces who are not just harming the interest of state but also spoiling trust of people on democratic process of country.

He also said that we have already wasted much peaceful time and cannot allow anything such in future. It is time to return to normal day to day life and contribute for normalisation of democratic work in Georgia administration as well.

It is to be noted that Speaker in his address further added, we cannot ignore our talks for integration into European Union. Moreover, Georgia is the most deserving country for the European Union integration.

The Speaker at the same time highlighted that, all of us need to get guidance from the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion on the elections.  He also stressed in end of his statement that Georgia fulfilled all kind of formalities.

The peaceful election for national parliament was held in Georgia on October 26. However, many opposition parties blamed that this was highjacked by ruling party of Georgia.
