Georgia: Lasha Khutsishvili meets ADB’s General-Secretary

Lasha Khutsishvili, Georgia’s finance minister recently met with the general-secretary of the ADB (Asian Development Bank). They discussed the various projects that the ADB is financing in Georgia.

It is to be added that in Today’s meeting many other ministers and officials were also present to share their views. During the meeting with ADB secretary-general Asel Jusupbekova, Deputy Finance Minister Ekaterine Guntsadze, David Garigos-Soliva, and Secretary Officer of the Asian Development Bank, Rachel Obfenda, were also present.

On this occasion both sides discussed the organisational events of the Asian Development Bank annual meeting and how to implement the project successfully in the new year.

It is to be specifically mentioned that on May 2-5 this year Georgia will host the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank for the first time. At this meeting there will participation of more than 4,000 participants and guests, including the President, Vice Presidents, the bank’s executive directors, as well as a delegation of 68-member countries and representatives of international financial institutions, the private sector, international and domestic will also attend it .

The Minister of Finance expressed his happiness over the hosting of this event first time in Georgia and noted that it is important for Georgia to host an event of this scale which will ensure the growth of the country’s investment, economic opportunities, and tourism potential.

He also said that during that event Georgia will have a unique opportunity to show the world its potential in the economic field. The government has launched many initiatives to attract maximum investment in the country. As per the minister, with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank and other international organisations, the Georgian economy will achieve new heights.

He also added that a stable and strong economy will benefit the country by generating the maximum number of jobs for the country’s youth.

On the other hand the head of the Asian Development Bank’s secretariat expressed hope that holding the bank’s annual meeting in Georgia would give a fresh boost to cooperation among the bank’s member countries. He also assured that ADB is committed to providing all possible assistance to member countries.
